Proper vapor permeability is one of the most important aspects of building performance. Under almost all circumstances we advocate for permeable performance layers. In the rare case of a roof under a 3:12 pitch and high amounts of cavity insulation we advocate for an unbreathable exterior control layer. In most applications our current favorite is Sharskin Ultra SA for durability and easy of install.
