In most cases we advocate for maximum exterior permeability, combined with a ventilated cladding cavity for low pressure this maximizes exterior drying. Some cases, such as exterior insulation or high moisture capacity exterior cladding such as stucco or brick, require a lower permeability.

In these installs we like a material with 5-10 perms. Self adhered membranes also work well to limit the penetrations before exterior insulation or heavy cladding. Pro Clima Adhero is our current favorite in this category.
