Wool that is a waste product from textiles is imported from New Zealand and turned into loose fill or batt insulation in the US. Carbon storing and the pinnacle of health. Now installs like other batts, thanks to Pro Batts.

Notes

  • A high R value and outstanding specific heat capacity of 2 J/Kg*K. The only lost points are due to it’s low density install.

  • Sheep have evolved some seriously durable fibers, such as a natural protection from degradation from moisture.

  • Wool insulation is made from a waste byproduct giving extra income to small farmers. The factory conditions to create the material are as good as a factory gets.

  • The material itself is carbon storing. The only downside is the long distance shipping. That impact is lower than you would think with high density packing and boat transportation.
